Pampered Parents

Moms-to-be have a lot on their minds in preparing for the special day when they will welcome their new baby to the family. For nine months, the whole family has been thinking and talking about this tiny new life they’re expecting. It is a particularly exhausting time for moms and dads. That’s why it’s not only the babies born in the new Birthing Center at Oconee Medical Center who get special attention. Now, parents of newborns enjoy a variety of amenities that make the birthing experience even more meaningful and memorable.

Are you planning to have a baby at Oconee Medical Center? If so, pack light. The hospital has taken care of some of the tiniest details leaving you to focus on the new addition to your family.

Since earlier this summer, every new mom receives a lovely robe and a pair of slippers to help her feel more comfortable after the delivery of her baby. She also receives a luxurious toiletries bag filled with spa products to help pamper Mom before she goes home to take care of her newborn. A “room service” style meal program allows Mom to order her meal from the Tower Grill whenever she is hungry, so she doesn’t have to eat on a set schedule and has a variety of meal choices from which to choose.

Think Dad has been forgotten? Think again. Before the family is discharged from the hospital, parents are treated to a special dinner featuring M Oconee Health meals such as steak, chicken cordon bleu or another meal of their choice to celebrate their new arrival. Served on china, with linen napkins, and wheeled into the room on a finely appointed table, Mom and Dad can spend some time relaxing and connecting with each other.

The Birthing Center at Oconee Medical Center was designed to provide a family-centered environment. Women now labor, give birth and recover with their new babies in a spacious private room, where they stay until they are discharged. The rooms, located within the new Patient Tower, are furnished to make parents and their babies feel comfortable and at home. “We take the issue of providing good patient care and excellent service very seriously,” said Sally Boggs, director of labor and delivery at Oconee Medical Center. “We’re combining personal touches with the finest in modern obstetrical services to create a warm, home-like setting.”

Oconee Medical Center invites you to learn more about the new birthing center and the supportive, caring staff by touring the facility.
